Toshiba 15LV505: This review is from: Toshiba 15LV505 15.6-Inch Widescreen LCD TV with Built-in DVD Player (Black) (Electronics) I've had this small TV just over a year so far, so cannot yet comment on long-term reliability. (But I will if I have the same problems I've had with one of Toshiba's very expensive laptop computers, grrrr.) The picture, to me (I'm not especially taken with TV watching) is excellent. I use it in a situation a foot or two from my eyes. Normally I wear glasses but find I can view the picture without them - it is that sharp. There have been complaints about the sound quality but I have no problem even without the volume up all the way. I am planning, frankly, to add exterior speakers, but have put this off because the original configuration is adequate. I totally love the convenience of the built-in DVD player. I like the understated appearance. One note: Do be careful of the screen. I accidentally hit it with a metal buckle that I didn't realize was swinging from a piece of clothing, and that made a mark that apparently can't be fixed. I do notice the mark when viewing although it mostly bothers me because it reminds me of my mistake.

Evidently, the manufacturer doesn't think there is a sufficient market for a 15" TV; none of the other majors do either. I had a hard time finding this and am glad I did. I have larger TVs but some places in a home require a smaller size. When analog TVs went away, the 9" TV disappeared. Now the 15" is disappearing. That is a mistake.. There is a need for a high quality smaller TV.

I bought one 2 years ago and it is still working great. I like the feature where you can stop a DVD and take it out and watch another DVD then put the first one back in and it picks up right where you left off. The memory is great. I have had very little problems with skipping, just a quick clean and it starts up where I left off. The picture is great and the TV also works great. I bought the second one just in case they stop making them. It is worth it.
