Schwinn 240 Recumbent: This review is from: Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) Quieter and smoother than the high-end machines at our fitness center. Amazon rocks - I ordered Tuesday and it arrived Thursday, with super-saver shipping! Very well packaged. Assembly takes an hour or so and is not difficult. Well thought out directions use pictures rather than words. Parts fit well. Construction seems solid. The included tools work well, though you may want to use your own phillips screwdriver. As someone else mentioned, don't tighten the parts that come partially assembled until the seat has been slid on, or you will be disassembling them to do so. After full assembly the adjustable seat rocks a little unless well tightened at the selected setting. If there is more than one user this makes it just a little more difficult than it needs to be to adjust. The strong, easily adjustable resistance is magnetic - No more brake pads or belts these days, nor the effective but unloved "air-dyne" of yore. I was amazed by the excellent performance of this affordable exercise bike. It's no wonder a "leading consumer magazine" gave it a great rating. Mine worked about a minute, then failed (no resistance). This looks unusual judging by the feedback. Nautilus customer service (that's also Schwinn) was amazing. Their people are clearly rewarded for helping customers rather than getting off the phone quickly and cheaply. They went to great lengths to make things right and I now have a working machine. I'm sure Amazon would have been good about return and replacement but Nautilus saved me from repacking and shipping.

Fast shipping, excellent UPS service; the delivery person asked where I wanted the huge box to be and he placed it right in the spot where I am exercising now. It took me less than 30 minutes to put the whole thing together, well almost, at the end I needed a helping hand to hold the seat steady for me since now I am very pregnant, and some parts are heavy for me. I would say the assembly manual is easier to understand than those from IKEA, though there is a small part a bit confusing at first, like some other reviews had mentioned, that some parts were already put together when you received them, so you might be wondering what the manual was talking about. However, it's not that difficult to figure out. (as long as the package come to you intact and no parts are missing or malfunctioning!) I have be using it everyday since I received it, for a week. So far it works great for me. All features are useful. I am able to set up user profile without problem. I'd like to mention that I am petite: 5'2 and 98 lb at pre-pregnancy, with short legs. (I could only safely and comfortably ride on big kid's outdoor bike; my feet cannot touch the ground at all even on the smallest size adult bike) Therefore, if I want to only exercise my legs but not gluteus muscle, I have to adjust the seat further back, so I can keep my legs extend to the most when paddling, but then I will need a towel or small pillow in between my back and the seat, otherwise there is a big gap there. This is something to consider for those who is in petite size like me. (You could always find a sporting goods store nearby to try it on before ordering online) In summary, I highly recommend this recumbent bike, great quality and good for someone with lower back pain. I hurt my hip and lower back area in an accident few weeks ago and it still hurts very much all the time. But miraculously, I didn't feel any discomfort at all when exercising on this bike.

Schwinn 240 Recumbent: This review is from: Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) I have to admit the numerous critical reviews of the Schwinn gave me pause, especially those involving the extreme difficulty of assembly. Ordered anyways and I have been nothing but pleased. Assembly was simple and did not require two persons or "extra hands". The assembled unit is attractive, totally silent, and comparable in use to a large commercial unit I occasionally use. This is a short term use review and I can't comment on long term reliability, but the apparent quality leads me to believe this will last a long time. If you're in the market for a reasonably priced recumbent, I would recommend this product.
